The Director General, RJGC and RCSSTE- West Asia Brig. Gen. Dr. Awni Khasawneh, chaired the meeting of the Space 2030 Group which was held in Vienna, 11-15 Feb. 2019.
The group was commissioned to prepare a plan for the global governance of space activities (Space 2030 Agenda), based on four pillars: Space economy, Space community, facilitating the access to space and finally the space diplomacy.
Space 2030 considered to be one of a Scientific and Technical working group of the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) Committee. It is worth mentioning that In 2011 Jordan became a member of (COPUOS).
The space plan, based on the four axes , aims to strengthening the global partnership in space exploration and innovation, establishing the outer space legal regime and global space governance, promoting the exchange of information on space objects and events, and the international framework for space weather services.
This plan also aims at promoting space collaboration for global health and enhancing global cooperation aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing the capacity of communities to
adapt to the needs of developing countries.
On behalf of the Government of Jordan the Director General RJGC has signed an agreement with the (UNOOSA) Director to host the scientific workshop, entitle “Global Partnership in Discovery and Innovation”. from 25-28 March 2019.
That Jordan plays a pivotal role in these committees, which are working to develop a comprehensive, long-term vision of space as it is considered as one of the main axes of development.
