The Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Westren Asia / United Nations in Jordan, was officially opened under Royal patronage on Tuesday, 29 May 2012, It was established on behalf of Westren Asia as one of the seven regional centers in the world:
A brief history:
In 1990, the United Nations request from the Westren Asian States to show their desire to host the Regional Center, several regional States apply to this offer. Subsequently, the United Nations organized an assessment mission to those countries. After reviewed the report, the General Assembly of UN decided the following:
“Having reviewed the report of the committee mission and the commitments made by interested countries, Jordan was chosen as the hosting country of Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Western Asia” In 2011, the Director of the Royal Jordanian Geographical Center, during his attendance at the 54th Session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS), officially announced the acceptance of the Government of Jordan to host the Regional Center for Space Science and Technology Education for Westren Asia.
Academic and Training Programs:
In collaboration with the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) ,the Center offers a master degree in many fields: remote sensing and geographic information systems. Satellite Communications….click here
The Center offers short-term (3-month) and medium-term (6-month) long-term (9-month) training courses in all specialties of the Regional Center:

There are several training courses offered by the Center with the participation of trainees from various regional countries to raise their abilities and skills. . Academic programs In collaboration with Mu’tah University, the Center offers a master’ degree program in GIS and remote sensing (RS).
The program began in October 2013 and consists of 4 semesters / 33 credit hours. Academic programs in cooperation with government institutions.
